Basic Guidelines About Article Directories

Posted by Kitfanc in Article Writing

One of the best, easiest and FREE methods to advertise and/or promote your website is through Article Marketing. This has re-purposed the art of writing. Folks who never thought they would ever write anything serious are finding themselves turning to their keyboards and pounding away at it to create literal works of advertising art. And the place to post them (after posting to your own site first, of course) is the good, old Article Directory.

To Market, To Market
Have you ever tried writing articles for directory sites?

Creating articles is a rewarding way to let people know about you, and by piquing their interest with information they are looking for, you give them the opportunity to click over to your site. But that information has to be good. It must be informative and educational.

By hooking them on what you write for them, they will be inclined to take interest and click the link that you will provide in your author’s resource box. That link will lead your potential clients to your web site. Then (and only then) is the time you have to aim for the sale.

Basic Directory Guide
This has become such a lucrative method for website promotion that article directories have sprung up like weeds. Each one has certain guidelines, some basic and some particular to the specific type of directory. But here are some of the basic guidelines that can help you prepare and start on your articles.

1. DO NOT SPAM
As you may or may not know, I am the owner of an article directory, and spam is a huge problem in this industry. I’ve seen more articles that were nothing but attempts to sell products (usually male enhancement drugs) right from the article! No information, no edifying content, just spam. They are deleted without a second thought, so don’t waste your time. Or mine, please.

2. Write Quality Content
Why is it important to write good content? You need to get the reader’s attention. And the only way to do that is by giving them what they want, what they are already looking for. You must give them useful information that they would definitely like to know. Posting good content to article directories serves a two-fold purpose. You educate your readers and you gain status as an expert, and both, just that easily.

3. Word count
Most article directories have limitations set for every aspect of your article–the summary, the body and the author’s resource box. The body section (the main content area) of your article should be somewhere between 300 and 700 words. The summary and resource box will be much less. I can’t stress strongly enough that you need to pay close attention to these limits. It is not the directory’s editorial staff’s job to fix your mistakes, and if your missive runs too long, you risk either having the article rejected or you risk looking like a non-professional, should the editors decided to go ahead and allow your mistakes. Usually they don’t, but you never know. Don’t waste your time. Or theirs, please.

4. Links
With RARE exception, the ONLY place you can place links in your article is in the author’s resource box, generally at the bottom of the article. You will be summarily rejected on those directory sites that expressly forbid links anywhere else. Don’t waste your time.

5. Relevancy
Choose the right article directories to which you will submit your work. Some directories are topic-specific, so don’t post an article about air conditioning to a poetry directory. You’ll be rejected. What am I going to say next? Don’t waste–what? That’s right.

6. READ THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Your time is valuable. The more time you spend writing work that will be rejected, the more money you will waste. That’s just wrong! Do yourself a favour and READ each directory’s submission guidelines. Follow the guidelines and you’ll be happier because your efforts will be rewarded. Trust me on this!

8 Mini Article Writing Templates To Drive Your Articles The Extra Mile

Posted by Earmabrown in Article Writing

Your audience is hungry for information. But they want it in the right format. The format must be easy to read, easy to digest and easy to apply. If you deliver your articles the way your audience likes it, they will reward you by reading every article you publish.
They will even visit your website, sign-up for your ezine and eventually visit your product page just to receive more of your helpful information.

By writing short articles you can capture attention, gain more traffic, create more sales and most importantly, be helpful to people when they need it. Here are seven quick tips to help you format your articles and make them go the extra mile:

1. Question/Answer.

This is a popular format for everyone wants their questions answered in a 123 fashion. If only all questions could be answered in a numbered method. Discover your audience’s burning questions that you have the answers for. List the questions; write a short paragraph that answers each question. Write a short introduction and even shorter summary. There you have it. An easy to read and easy to digest short article answering your audience’s most pressing questions.

2. Problem/Solution.

I absolutely love this format. I myself have gotten tons of problems solved with this format, after reading someone’s problem/solution article. Therefore, many of my business problems that I solve become guess what kind of article? Yes. You are right; they become problem/solution articles. Simply describe the problem in one short paragraph and offer the solution in a one sentence paragraph below it. Or vice versa, describe the problem in a one sentence paragraph and give the solution in the longer paragraph.

3. Myth/Truth.

The myth/truth format is another format that I use often in my writing. I guess because there are plenty of myths to destroy in any field. No, really I don’t see it used as much as the other formats. So it becomes one of my attempts to be different. Also, you can easily convert other formats of yours or your favorite writer. For example, if you are inspired by another writer’s topic instead of plagiarizing their work simply turn their list of mistakes into secrets or solutions. Simply present the facts in your own voice and viewpoint.

4. Tips/Advice.

I think you know by now. I love writing short articles that help people. I mention that because I felt myself wanting to write, the same words at the beginning of this tip. You know, “I love the tip format.” This article is a great example of the tips format. I listed eight tips and short advice on how to accomplish the tip. So, list out your tips and write a short paragraph of advice to explain the tip.

Every one loves bite-sized, useful information. Why not join the Information Revolution, by writing short articles to promote your ezine, website, product or service. Your readers will enjoy receiving your expertise. They will make sure your articles go the extra mile by telling all their friends about your informative, helpful service.

5. Top Ten List.

A variation of the tips format is the top tips list. Your top tips list may consist of the Top Five, Top Ten, Top Seven or practically any number of ten or less. I have even written the single most important tip to help my audience focus. Sometimes, that one gets more attention than the other numbers, because it answers a desire in all of us that want it as easy as possible. It’s great if I can achieve it in a single step or even the 2 most important ways sound better than three or seven.

6. How To.

Just as we all want to achieve anything in the easiest way possible, we also like to be shown how to do anything and everything. My clients have often said to me, “Just give me 5 easy steps or 3 easy steps and I know I can do it.” I’m the same way, aren’t you? Format your article to teach something and offer easy steps to accomplish it. Again, list them and write a short paragraph explaining each step.

7. Ways/Secrets/Habits.

Another variation of the How-to article can be written in ways, secrets, habits, or things. I have even formatted one of my articles into weapons called “7 Weapons to Conquer the Giant Procrastination.” The weapons became how-to tools to overcome procrastination keeping you from writing your best book now.

8. Reasons.

Most people can understand any given topic better if they can know the whys or reasons that support it. Websites are becoming more and more popular across the globe. As a website developer, I wanted to help my clients understand strong reasons for them to get a website now. Yes. The article became, “10 Reasons You Need a Website.” Think of something you want to convince your clients of and write an article doing so. For a software developer wanting to sell more of his ebook creation software, his article became “18 Reasons to Write an eBook and Give it Away Free.”

Articles Are The Quickest Way To Your Customers Wallet

Posted by Mcarson0016 in Article Writing

One way of promoting your website and product can be achieved for free. As an additional bonus, this free method can boost your sites and sales, doubling and even tripling your income.

Articles. One of the easiest ways to promote your website in order to generate traffic and increase your earnings.

How does this work?

Write articles relating to your website and submit them to free content submission sites. Easy to do, takes little time and can increase your website traffic, sales and of course, your income.

How can article writing boost traffic and income?

The article on the free content site contains a link to your own website. Readers, after reading your articles, may choose to click on the link and pay you an unexpected visit. Having them on the free content sites is also making these articles available to other webmasters who may wish to publish that article on their site.

If they do, your article will include a link back to your site. And anyone who reads the article on that site can still click on the link to visit your site.

As the list of your published articles grow larger, and more and more of them are appearing on different websites, the total number of links to your site increases also. Major search engines are placing a lot of significance on incoming links to websites so they can determine the importance of a certain site.

The more incoming links the website has, the more importance search engines attaches to it. This will then increase your websites placement in the search results.

If you site is into promoting a product or service, the links that your articles have achieved will mean more potential customers for you. Even if visitors only browse through, you never know if they might be in need of what you are offering in the future.

There are also those who already have specific things they need on their mind but cannot decide yet between the many choices online. Chances are, they may stumble upon one of your articles, gets interested by the contents you wrote, go to your site and became enticed by your promotions. See how easy that is?

Search engines do not just index the websites, they also index published articles. They also index any article that is written about your own websites topic. So once someone searches for that same topic, the list of results will have your site or may even show the articles that you have written.

And to think, no effort on your part was used to bring them to your site. Just your published articles and the search engines.

It is no wonder why many webmasters are suddenly reviving their old writing styles and taking time to write more articles about their site than doing other means of promotion.

Getting their site known is easier if they have articles increasing their links and traffic and making it accessible for visitors searching the internet. Since many people are now taking their buying needs online, having your site on the search engines through your articles is one way of letting them know about you and your business.

The good thing with articles is that you can write about things that people would want to know about. This can be achieved in the lightest mood but professional manner, with a little not-so-obvious sales pitch added.

If you think about it, only a few minutes of your time is spent on writing one article and submitting to free content site. In the shortest span of time also, those are distributed to more sites than you can think of. Even before you know what is happening, you are getting more visitors than you previously had.

If you think you are wasting your time writing these articles, fast forward to the time when you will see them printed and wide-spread on the internet. Not to mention the sudden attention and interest that people are giving your website and your products or services.

Try writing some articles and you will be assured of the sudden surge in site traffic, link popularity and interest. Before you know it, you will be doubling and even tripling your earnings.

Nothing like getting benefits for something you got for free.

Article Marketing - Make Sure Your Articles Include These

Posted by Dbsilva in Article Writing

Articles have become the foundation of the Internet. Even in the face of the growing audio and video revolution, the underpinning information revolves around articles. They form the primary content for most websites. They serve as the primary means of driving traffic to most websites. Almost all Internet marketers use articles as part of their traffic strategy.

Whether you write them yourself, use private label rights material, or outsource them, you need to understand what makes for a successful article and how to maximize the cumulative effect of your articles.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at some basic elements that should be incorporated into every article you use …

1. Title Keywords And Keyword Phrases

Keywords are still the primary way of directing traffic on the Internet. Whether you’re online looking for information about how to use a yo-yo or you’re looking to purchase a Stanley 25 foot, retractable tape measure … you start with a basic search. Google, or whatever other search engine you may be using, develops a list of websites and articles that they believe meet the criteria of your search term. In the case of our examples, these would be either yo-yo related or Stanley tape measure related.

If you have a website, or you’ve written an article on how to use a yo-yo, but the term yo-yo or more appropriately, “how to use a yo-yo,” isn’t included in the title, then your content will most likely never appear in the search engine results. Or, if it does, it will be buried so deep in the results that it’s unlikely anyone will ever find it.

So, in your website page title and in the title of the article, you want to include the keyword phrase that properly reflects the content. In the case of our example, once again, it would be … how to use a yo-yo.

2. Keyword Density

There was a time when keyword density was the way the search engines measured how well your content met the criteria of a search. For instance, if you only had “how to use a yo-yo” in the title and it appeared nowhere else on the page, then your content would be deemed less relevant than content that included the same phrase dispersed fairly regularly throughout the page.

Of course, this was quickly abused by webmasters who wanted the search engines to place their content at the top of the results. Some would write nonsensical articles stuffed with keyword phrases. Others would hide keyword phrases on the page by making them the same color as the background. Well, the search engines frowned upon such tactics and quickly went about deleting them from search results.

Until recently, though, it was still believed that having a keyword or keyword phrase appear on the page (or in the article) two to three percent of the time would be helpful. However, as the search engines have become more sophisticated they’ve learned to recognize appropriate content without the need to see constant references to a keyword phrase.

So, in our example of “how to use a yo-yo,” they’re able to identify associative terms such as yo-yo string, palm of your hand, yo-yo tricks, walk the dog, holding the yo-yo, making a slipknot, etc.

The bottom line: get your keyword phrase into your content a couple of times and don’t worry about density.

3. Provide Good Content

What else needs to be said? If you’re going to write articles for distribution or for your website pages, make them solid articles with content that visitors will find to be worth their while. Don’t junk up the Internet anymore than it already is. Respect your visitors. Respect your business. Do it right.

4. Linking Articles

Articles written for the purpose of promoting your website or a product should use proper linking strategies. For instance, if the article is on how to use a yo-yo and you want traffic to a specific page on your website about buying the right yo-yo, you would take advantage of your resource box at the bottom of the article for this. Here’s what you might include: To learn more about yo-yoing, visit our site at (list the website address). And if you’re looking for the latest yo-yo models with designs that make every step of yo-yoing easier than ever, don’t miss our specials!

In this example, you would want to anchor the text “latest yo-yo models” with a link back to your sales page.

As your article gets distributed to numerous article directories around the Internet, each one will have those two links pointing back at your website. This is an excellent way to not only draw traffic, but to gain the attention of the search engines.

Making Money From Home Through Article Writing

Posted by Trishastone in Article Writing

If you have an internet home business, how are you going to be making money from home through article writing? The purpose of article writing is to drive more traffic, that is, visitors to your website so that there are more chances of people buying from you. Simple as that. When you are looking for opportunities for making money from home you need as many visitors as possible.

Firstly, let’s get clear it is not about writing just anything. You are hoping to be making money from home because you have set up a website or blog. This website should focus on a particular topic or “niche”. You need to be clear about your niche because generalized sites have to be part of a huge brand to generate income. Probably you are not in this league yet but would like to start making money from home gradually and see if it is something you can develop in the future.

People are hungry for information - that is why the Internet has become such a huge part of our lives. Say you are an expert on a topic and you want to get the word out there. By getting the word out there to as many sites as possible your internet visibility grows, and with that the potential for making money from home.

Here are the benefits that writing articles can give your Internet business.

1. It’s An Absolutely Free Way To Promote Your Internet Business

There are many article submission sites out there which will accept your articles for nothing. Some will have a very specific focus but some are very general. The more of an expert you are on the topic the more relevant your articles will be. Nearly everyone who is searching the Internet is looking for specific information. This is why if you write about your particular topic you can become the “go to” person. Writing articles is the way that you establish this reputation.

2. Your Internet Visibility Will Grow With Your Article Submissions

When you post an article you are asked to submit a “resource box”. In order to be making money from home your objective is to get people to click through to your website. The resource box is the one place you can put your link. When your article is taken up by other sites, and it will be, they have to preserve this resource box with your information and link.

3. Why Links Matter

Remember your resource box has to remain intact for articles to be reproduced. Those are the copyright terms of your article submission sites.

Now are you beginning to see why this will help you with making money from home? The more information sites that take up and reprint your article the more link backs will be out there on the Internet. Hence the growing visibility. It is not unusual for good articles to be taken up by hundreds of sites.

4. Positing Yourself As An Expert

As you are developing your role as an Internet marketer, if you plainly display your products on your website, you will not gain much conversion rate for your goods or services. In order to be making money from home you are aiming to maximize your conversion rate. Conversion is when your traffic converts to sales. People are much more likely to buy from those whom they perceive as an expert. What better way to show that than by writing articles that will allow you some bragging rights, right?

5. How To Write For Major Impact

Keep your articles focused and informative. You will not be writing a novel. The common length of articles for the submission sites is 400-800 words. Just make your creative juices flow and jot down or key in those ideas quickly to jumpstart your article writing momentum.

If you want to be making money from home and you don’t have loads of spare cash to promote your site writing articles is one of the most productive activities to start you off. If you are like most experts and are passionate about your subject, then you can be making money from home before you know it.

P.S. Don’t forget - if you put a series of articles together they can be your first ebook!

Posted by WMMedia in Article Writing

When you have a website from which you want to earn an income, it is important to have informative articles that visitors can read. The information you present can lead them to clicking on any links to affiliate sites you may have or on the ads that help you earn money. It is costly to pay a writer to write the articles for you, especially if you plan to have an extensive site. However, there are ways of getting free articles that you can post on your site without violating nay copyright laws.

You should start searching online for sites that have articles that are free for you to use. One of these is Article City. This site has a huge index of articles on numerous topics. All you have to do is browse the menu on the right to find the category for which you need articles and contents that you can add to your site. It just takes a few clicks with copy and paste and you have a new page added.

On eth sites you find offering articles that you are free to use, you will also see Google ads offering the same thing. One of these ads you may notice is from ArticleDepot. This site offers a great selection of articles on just about any topic you can think of.

At the same time, if you are and want to drive more traffic to your website, you can submit articles you write to a free directory. There are many of these to choose from and you don’t have to pay a fee to become a member. These include the two websites mentioned above as well as many others. The more articles you submit to these free directories the more traffic you can generate to your website and this translates into higher earnings. With each new article you submit, you do a little promotion of your self and your site at the bottom leading visitors to visit your site.

These directories rate quite high in search engine results which gives you more visibility even if your website doesn’t rank very high. Readers of your article make a connection between you and the topic of your article. If you have several articles on the same topic on the same directory, you may even be regarded as an expert in that field.

You don’t have to stick to submitting articles to the same directory. When you submit to several of them you multiply your exposure. You should be aware that you cannot publish the same article on several sites. The team in charge of approving the articles will check to make sure that it is not duplicate material and may even disallow you from the site if you do this. You also have to make sure the articles you write are original and not copied from other places. This is plagiarism and is illegal. You can get ideas from other sites and rephrase thenm in your own words, but you are not allowed to copy and paste.

One of the best places to get free articles is the free article directory http://www.ArticleCircle.com This site offers free online articles on lots of different topics.
